Jonah Brainard is a Pennsylvania-born editor, cinematographer, and drone pilot who lives in documentary filmmaking. Drawn to the intersections of science, art, wildlife, and storytelling, he explores narratives that reflect his experiences of human relationships, as well as the environment and the evolving relationship between technology and nature.

His films have gathered Best Director and Best Performance awards, while his photography has been showcased in campus galleries.
Jonah currently serves as the Post Production Supervisor Intern for Kashmir World Foundation, leading a documentary centered on advanced technology and cross-disciplinary collaboration to protect endangered species and ecosystems. He serves as the team lead, instructing multiple editors and animators on various projects.

He holds a BFA in Film & Photography from the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College.

It is where this "outside of the box thinking" is fully tested.

For me, filmmaking is about failing. Seeing your mistakes, where you went wrong, and figuring out what doesn't work. It's about learning and improving yourself through the failed attempts.
​
Even as an editor, it becomes almost overwhelming with the endless possibilities in which each scene could be cut. But once you realize that it is, in turn, a gift rather than a curse, editing becomes a game of "how can I be the most creative?"
